Tried to find out what the issue is. OTOH, they do own a 2013 Mac Pro that showed similar behaviour. #8 I will try without all the nvme disks sharing the same bus. Will update you when i have tested. Thanks for the reply! #9 I'm having the same kind of problem with my AM5 Gigabyte X870E AORUS Master mobo using a Ryzen 9900x.My UAD-2 Quad PCIe card shows up in device manager. It even recognizes it as an Audio DSP Accelerator. But it says this device has a problem and cannot start.Did moving M.2 drives around fix your issue? Any solution/progress?My sense is that it either has to do with the PCIe gen #, or that the PCIe lanes communicate via the chipset (SouthBridge) instead of talking directly to the CPU. BTW, my UAD-2 Quad PCIe card worked fine on my old AM4 Ryzen build with a 5800x3d on a Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite Wifi motherboard. #10 unfortunately no. I tried removing all nvme disks, leaving just the main one. No luck. I also tried the different pci slots. If not PLEASE can you fix the issue. Analog Massive Passive is smoother than the UAD which has a slight bite to it. The Pultec exhibits that same smooth tube feel on the top end and is very pleasant. What We ThinkEven though throughout this test the analog Manley has vibe and high end shine wise stood above the UAD plugin version the UAD version is a really accurate emulation of a legendary piece of gear, (we are happy we are lucky enough to have both options at our studio). Weighed up against the Pultec, there are, we find notable similarities but also these two types of EQ have (unsurprisingly) very unique characters (go on, buy all of them ;) ). When considering pricing of the units it is great how you can get a UAD plugin that comes so close to the original unit (as mentioned, would you notice the difference in one instance in a band mix? (you might though on a solo vocalist with guitar). The analog Manley Massive Passive does have more lushness, forwardness and width whilst retaining ultra smoothness (probably something to do with the fact of having real transformer and tubes), which is a definite strength for mastering over the plugin. Yes the Pultec does come off as fuller in some of the tests but that is possibly also due to its much wider boost curves than the Manley in these cases (and with more bands and more selectable frequencies) and it has its own flavor of awesomeness (which is why people consider selling kidneys to buy the originals). One thing to remember is that these reviews and the listening tests don't take into account the usability of the gear. The no frills layout of the EQP 1A3 is nice and the large knobs are great for dialing in sounds, and is great for impressing other engineers. One of the thrills of having a piece of gear like the real Massive Passive over one of the UAD plugins is of course the usability of it (especially re haptics). Having the sounds you want, a lot more literally put - at your fingertips is a definite advantage. A piece of gear as intuitive and well laid out as the Massive Passive makes for a great workflow and is a pleasure to use. Even though the UAD is of course laid out the same you don’t get the same feeling clicking and moving the knobs around with a mouse no matter how responsive it may be. Outboard gear has the advantage that you don’t have to look at it in the same manner as a plugin on a screen, which means more of your brain can focus on listening rather than seeing (when we get

UAD SOLO/Laptap Card Question

#1 Hi I just purchased a uad solo laptop , and am realising I should have maybe asked this question beforehand!! Anyway my laptop only has a pcmcia slot and so I purchased an adapter which changes this slot to an express card slot to accommodate the uad card. However I only get a steady red light on the card and no device is recognized message when Windows loads! Does anybody know of any issues with using the card with an adapter like the one described above?Any help at all is very much appreciated!! #2 I don't know if it helps at all, but for years I used a Solo Laptop with PCIe adapter card in my Mac Pro. So, adapters can work. But, I'm worried that you might be stuck because I think ExpressCard superseded PCMCIA (PC Card), and I don't think the two are forward/backward compatible. See this page:ExpressCard - What is it? Why use it?I hope that's not the case, but it doesn't look so good. Maybe somebody has successfully done it and can help...good luck. #3 Hi , many thanks for trying to help! I read the article and it says that the two are not backwards compatable , but that there are adapters to turn a cardbus slot into an express card slot, which is what I have! I cannot understand why it won't work!? If the extra bandwidth the express card needs is not available to the uad solo through the adapter or something similar , then why sell the adapter ? As it certainly doesn't turn a cardbus slot into an express card slot?! Anyway your information was helpful as I got a desktop with a free pcie slot ....all may not be lost but I really really needed it for on the. If im lucky they will do a new bios #15 Nice, i will copy your email and send to Gigabyte support then. If im lucky they will do a new bios I don’t think it’s worth it…you are on a new platform and if Gigabyte do send you a bios you’ll be frozen at that bios…No good on a new platform when Bios updates are regularly released to address bugs and performance enhancements along with security fixes.X570 was a mature platform so the Bios they sent me was already stable and tweaked…. #16 I had almost the same problem. My mainboard is B550 F Asus. and my uad solo was working but periodically it could just stop responding. I did all recommendations from UA with Windows but that didn’t help much. And one day my card just completely stopped working whatever pci ex1 slot I was using. Then I red one of the threads on gearspace (gearslutz) and tried pci ex16 slot. And now it is working well. #17 I had almost the same problem. My mainboard is B550 F Asus.and my uad solo was working but periodically it could just stop responding. Updated November 12, 2024 16:00 UAD Console is the companion software application for Apollo audio interface hardware. UAD Console's analog-style workflow is designed to provide quick access to the most commonly needed features in a familiar, easy-to-use application.UAD Console's function is to control up to four Apollo hardware units and their digital mixing and low-latency monitoring capabilities. You can configure Realtime UAD Processing and Unison with UAD plug-ins in UAD Console, or in LUNA.Important Fundamental Concept: The primary function of UAD Console is to control Apollo's low-latency hardware input monitoring, Unison plug-ins, and Realtime UAD Processing when using third-party DAWs such as Logic Pro, Live, and Pro Tools. UAD Console replaces the software input monitoring feature of the DAW's mixer. UAD Console or LUNA Recording System must be used to take advantage of these Apollo features.UAD Console remotely controls the digital mixing and signal processing functions that are performed within the Apollo hardware. Although UAD Console runs on the host computer, the computer's CPU is not performing these audio functions. All audio mixing and signal processing occurs on the DSP inside Apollo. Note: Apollo interfaces use UAD DSP and memory resources for the internal DSP mixer. Therefore, the UAD Meters will show DSP and memory usage when Apollo is connected, even if UAD Console and/or Apollo plug-ins are not currently loaded.UAD Console's application icon and main windowHow to get UAD ConsoleIn UA Connect, click the Apollo & UAD-2 tab. Click the Download button next to UAD Console. If UAD Console. Is the UAD-2 SOLO/Laptop the same power as a PCIe UAD-2 Solo? Yes. See the UAD-2 DSP Chart for more information. One or more tracks while playing back a session. All audio and MIDI tracks, buses, the main output, and hardware outputs are delay-compensated on playback, so everything stays tightly synchronized.Plug-in processing (Apollo mode only)Previously, with UAD Console, you had to choose whether or not to record insert effects on input channels. In LUNA, as with the UAD Console, Unison insert processing is always recorded to disk. However, unlike the UAD Console, each input channel has four available Record FX slots in addition to eight standard inserts (used for any combination of Audio Unit or UAD plug-ins). These inserts allow you to record through up to four UAD plug-ins on any available input channel (depending on available UAD DSP resources). In addition, UAD and non-UAD plug-ins can be assigned to standard Inserts (not recorded to disk) for monitoring while you record, without being recorded to disk.Notes on plug-in processing:Only UAD plug-ins can be monitored on a record-enabled track when Accelerated Realtime Monitoring is enabled. When you enable ARM, any Audio Unit plug-ins on a record or input-enabled track are disabled.UADx plug-ins convert automatically to UAD plug-ins when tracks or buses that require UAD processing are put into ARM mode. So, for example, in ARM mode, if your vocal track feeds an ARM-enabled bus with a UADx Pure Plate Reverb inserted, and you record-enable that vocal track, the UADX Pure Plate Reverb is switched out for the UAD-2 Pure Plate Reverb (if you have the plug-in).When you add an Audio Unit plug-in to a record or input-enabled track when ARM is enabled, the plug-in is added in an inactive state, and LUNA displays a notification that the plug-in is disabled. When a track is record or input-enabled in ARM mode, the last four standard inserts are disabled.LUNA and UAD ConsoleYou never need to use UAD Console when you are using LUNA in Apollo mode. LUNA replaces almost all functions for which you previously used UAD Console. LUNA also includes a number of features that UAD Console does not.For example, a LUNA session includes persistent Inputs. When you configure a LUNA track with an input, all settings, including Unison plug-ins, Record FX plug-ins, and Insert effect plug-ins, are retained on that track. You can reuse the same input on your Apollo on multiple tracks, and each track in the session will continue to retain the settings that were last used for it, even after you close and reopen the session. If you prefer to use UAD Console, the settings you configure in UAD Console are removed when LUNA starts, and restored after you quit LUNA. Note that the Isolate and Flex Routing features are configured in UAD Console.Console Isolate featureIsolate retains current channel settings when
