EOW: Tuesday Published 10:25 am Wednesday, September 15, 2021 The Butler County Sheriff’s Office worked alongside the Covington County Sheriff’s Office to apprehend a suspect with warrants in both counties.According to reports, the Covington County Incident Response Team and the Butler and Covington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call north of Red Level, just inside Conecuh County.Michael Dewayne Brogden, who had warrants from Butler County and misdemeanor warrants from Covington County, was hunkered down in his camper and refused to respond to law enforcement requests to come to the door. Email newsletter signupAfter multiple attempts to retrieve Brogden from his home without injury, the IRT attempted to enter the camper. Unfortunately, IRTS attempts were unsuccessful.Minutes later, tear gas was administered. Brogden became cooperative, and an arrest finally occurred. No injuries were reported.Brogden is currently being held in the Butler County Jail without bond.In a statement, Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman thanked everyone involved in the arrest in response to excellent work exhibited between agencies.“I commend all of the agencies involved,” Sheriff Turman stated. “Working together as one team will always be successful. With this bunch of men, failure is not an option. I commend their tenacity and work ethic.”Butler County Sheriff Danny Bond said he shares in Sheriff Turmans sentiments.“Working with others, especially in other counties, has always been a part of the job,” Sheriff Bond said. “We came together under a common goal and worked together to ensure that everything went well.
