What is the local IP address of your BI server? Lets say I am away from the camera on a computer and I want to see the video feed. The IP I must use is my WAN IP, right? If by "away from my computer" you mean NOT on your local network (LAN), then yes. If that WAN IP is not static you would likely need a hostname supplied by a DDNS service to use in place of the WAN IP. The DDNS service would need to be refreshed in case your WAN IP ever changes and this is best performed, in most cases, by your router. You would also likely need to perform some port forwarding in that router so any request coming in on that port would be forwarded to the camera's LAN IP.....port forwarding is risky and NOT recommended. Instead, using a VPN to achieve access to your LAN from outside is the recommended method to help protect your LAN's integrity. #13 Thats a nice advice, thank you. Of nature; no video surveillance system made was designed to be exposed to those forces.. NEVER FORWARD PORTS to your NVR or Cameras, doing such things not only exposes you to severe security problems, but everyone else on the internet too.. Hackers dont want your video... ipcamtalk.com yeah sorry this is all new to me...not a techy networking kind of guy..old and slow.. I was up all night just trying to setup what I have so far... #15 yes thats the video I used to set it up. I found another video on STUNNEL and instead of creating a new entry in the STUNNEL.CONF file he edited one of the entries that was remarked out. I think I had spacing wrong or something in one of the lines for the Blue Iris entry because after editing it I can now access UI3 interface with my phone on external network. Still cant get the Android BI app to connect though for some reason... no error messages just the spinning circle then nothing Last edited: Dec 12, 2021 #16 Check your router. It sounds like STUNNEL is working correctly as I am able to access my Blue Iris server via the UI3 interface from outside my home network. To log in connect to the net providing the password ... then after connecting and not haviing an ip address, keep the name of the network pressed with your finger and there you can change the ip address.. Did you try this yourself, and it worked? If yes, I wonder big time because that's exactly what did not work for me and my HTC Radar at my home Wifi network: Without a DHCP server running on the Access Point (no need for, only static IP addresses in use) the phone did not connect, just hang for a minute or so and then timed out. Only after I activated a DHCP server to dish out an IP to the phone it connected. #8 No its not clear man ...Why you want to change the ip of your phone to a static one for all networks yoy log in...When your phone finds the network you want to log in connect to the net providing the password ... then after connecting and not haviing an ip address, keep the name of the network pressed with your finger and there you can change the ip address.. Well this should not work. Did you test your solution, looks strange? #10 No its not clear man ...Why you want to change the ip of your phone to a static one for all networks yoy log in...When your phone finds the network you want to log in connect to the net providing the password ... then after connecting and not haviing an ip address, keep the name of the network pressed with your finger and there you can change the ip address.. suppose(and this case is real in my case and applies to me..) u r not the admin of wifi router(u r nt connection owner) and u r in ur school and u want to connect to school wifi..but the router connects to only a limited set of ips..network admin has disabled dhcp server as in my ase..without preconfiguring the ip address before connection, u cant connect to ap..thats tragedy..dont think, oh i have never undergone such circumstances and ur network admin is a jack***..i know but i am helpless in this situation..all my classmates and my seniors are android device owners..so network admin doesn't change all settings just for helping a single person(at least in india..they ll ask u to use internet through library computers like dumbasses..)THIS SUBSTANTIATES THE NECESSITY OF A FEATURE WHICH ALLOWS U TO SET A STATIC IP BEFORE LOGGING INTO ACCESS POINT..also this feature helps to prevent all the little more work consuming process of logging into router, assigning static ip to ur device, and getting the static ip on deviceComments
